Serving LGBTQIA+ Children and Families

Description: Forensic Interview Specialist Rachel Johnson( she/her/they/them) will discuss affirmative practices for professionals supporting and serving LGBTQIA+ children and families. This training will include a Gender & Sexuality 101 course to establish shared language and definitions.
Learning Objectives: Increase understanding of queer culture, including the issues that affect the LGBTQIA+ community and how these dynamics impact their experiences with systems providers. Offer tools for professionals to examine current practices and create more affirmative interactions and environments for LGBTQIA+ children and families Examine the role of intersectionality and polyvictimization in work with LGBTQIA+ children and families.
