NYSCA is excited to offer YWCA White Plains & Central Westchester’s Center for Racial Equity Racial Justice 101: Race, Racism and Being Anti-Racist. This workshop session will take participants through the basics of race, racism and the various forms of discrimination rooted in those concepts.
Starting with a historical overview adapted from the Smithsonian National Museum of African-American History & Culture, this two hour workshop will give participants a deeper understanding of how racism impacts our daily lives and how we can move towards an anti-racist mindset that helps us unpack, undo and rectify injustices big and small.
Participants will walk away feeling better equipped to define Race, Racism, Anti-Racism, Bias & Micoragressions, while also having participated in activities that further engage them in anti-racist work. Racial Justice 101 is the first step in our Racial Justice workshop series and the starting point for any community member who wishes to be better versed in anti-racism and what can be done to make the world around us better and more just.
