You Must Register by Friday, September 11, 2020: Limited to 30 Participants
For over 10 years, Dr. Kate Watson has delivered workshops (both onsite and virtually) on Microaggressions and Implicit Bias. Microaggressions are subtle, and often well-meaning remarks, actions, or insults which communicate a negative or hurtful message to a marginalized group of people. Microaggressions are often rooted in implicit biases that we absorb over the course of
our lives. In this workshop, participants will uncover the ways in which some of their behaviors and comments intentionally or unintentionally expose their biases and cause significant harm
to others.
OBJECTIVES
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
1. Define implicit bias
2. Begin practicing skills for uncovering and healing implicit biases
3. Define microaggressions
4. List 3 categories of microaggressions and provide examples of each
5. List at least 3 harmful consequences experienced by victims of microaggressions
6. Implement a self-awareness and self-growth plan for dismantling internalized oppression
