MDT Enhancement Initiative

In recognition that the CAC model was born out of a need to facilitate a coordinated approach to child abuse investigations, NYSCA has piloted a Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) Enhancement Initiative to enable CACs to engage children and families with critical services at an earlier point in the investigation timeline. The MDT Enhancement Initiative is intended to support Child Advocacy Centers (CACs) in designing and implementing overarching strategies and specific procedures that will strengthen the coordination of joint investigations, improve communication among team members, and enhance the overall collaborative approach to the investigation, assessment, intervention and prosecution of the child abuse cases worked through the CAC and its MDT.

The goals of the MDT Enhancement Initiative include the following:

  • Proactively strengthen and sustain CAC Multidisciplinary Teams
  • Fortify the overall MDT component within CACs to ensure effective communication, coordination and collaboration at all stages of
    child abuse cases
  • Ensure timely access to the full array of CAC/MDT services for all children within a CACs official service area and existing protocol
    case criteria
