This training is intended for Victim Advocates and is aimed to provide participants with basic concepts of Motivational Interviewing, which is a communication style aimed at moving victims forward in a way that is aligned with their own values and goals. Motivational Interviewing is a set of techniques to help clients find the internal motivation to make positive decisions and behavior changes. It is a practical, empathetic, and short-term process that takes into consideration how difficult it is to make life changes.
